Abby and Allie represented Team Braemar at the TCFSA officials dinner to receive the Marlys Larson synchronized Skating Award. Alex and Coco received their individual awards, senior men, and juvenile ladies.

at 2009 World Challenge Cup

for Juniors!!


Our team just returned March 15 from Neuchatel, Switzerland, where the team was one of two teams to represent the USA in the WCCJ. Congrats on wrapping up a wonderful competitive season. To learn more, check out the Ice Network coverage.

Team Braemar had a stellar performance at the 2009 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships, held in Portland, Maine, on March 3-7. Juniors took the Gold Medal and are National Champions! Team Braemar Junior Team wins Silver

at Spring Cup in Milan Italy!

Team Braemar's Junior Synchronized Skating Team earned the silver medal at the 2009 Spring Cup, held in Milan, Italy.

Spring Cup 2009 is an International Synchronized Skating Competition for Senior, Junior and Novice, hosted by Federazione Italiana Sport Ghiaccio and organized by Precision Skating Milano. Competition was held in PALASESTO ARENA, Milano Sesto San Giovanni, Italy, February 14 - 15, 2009.

Team Braemar was in second place after the short program, and went on to win the long skate, finishing second overall with 160.93 points, just fractions behind Canada's Nexxice Team, which had 161.12 points.

Alex Johnson Captures

the Bronze Medal

in Junior Men's Event at

at U.S. Figuring Skating's

National Championships





We all knew he could do it!
Alex Johnson captured the Bronze Medal in the Junior Men's Event at the U.S. Figuring Skating National Championships in Cleveland, OH on Friday, January 23, 2009 ! After finishing seventh in the short program Wednesday, January 21, 2009, Alex came back with a first-place finish in the freeskate program to take the Bronze Medal overall!

Please join me in congratulating Alex, his Coach Joan Orvis, and his proud parents on this absolutely amazing accomplishment!

Alex is a wonderful representative of BCLFSC, the Twin Cities Figure Skating Association, and the Minnesota skating scene.

Takes Home Gold

Novice Earns Bronze

at 2009 USFS Midwestern Sectionals



Team Braemar's Junior Synchronized Skating Team earned the gold medal at the 2009 United States Figure Skating (USFS) Midwestern Sectional Championships on Saturday, January 31, 2009 in Bloomfield, Colorado. The team swept the event, with a first-place finish in the short program on Friday, January 30 and a first-place performance in the free skate on Saturday, January 31. In addition, Team Braemar's Novice Synchronized Skating Team won the bronze medal.

Both teams advance to the 2009 USFS National Synchronized Skating Championships, held March 5-7, 2009, in Portland, Maine.

Team Braemar's Junior team represents the USFS as Team USA at the Spring Cup in Milan, Italy on February 14-15 , 2009 and at the World Synchronized Skating Challenge Cup in Neuchatel, Switzerland on March 13-14, 2009.

Selection Competition



The Team Braemar Junior Line took second place at the Junior World Team Selection Competition, held in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, January 9-11. Team Braemar won the short program and took second in the freeskate. With a combined score of 179.48, Team Braemar was only 1.07 points out of first place. Team Braemar, along with the Chicago Jazz Team, will represent the United States at the 2009 World Synchronized Skating Challenge Cup for Juniors, March 11-14 in Neuchatel, Switzerland. Alex Johnson wins Bronze

at the Junior Grand Prix Competition

in Sheffield, England!


With a another strong performance in the Junior Grand Prix series, Alex Johnson won the Bronze medal in Sheffield, England, thus securing a position in the Junior Grand Prix Finals in Seoul, Korea. Complete results are available at the Ice Network Site

2007 Gardena Spring Trophy


Alex Johnson recently represented the United States as a Junior Man at the ISU Gardena Spring Trophy in Gardena, Italy. Skaters from Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Kazakhstan and the USA participated in this competition. Among them were two, 2007 ISU Junior World Figure Skating Championships competitors as well as a 2007 ISU World Figure Skating Championships competitor. Alex however, was new to the International scene.

After finishing 2nd at the 2007 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Spokane, Washington, Alex was selected to represent the United States as a part of Team USA.

Alex finished 3rd, giving him the Bronze medal, a spot on the podium and a great ending to a first time International competition experience.

Congratulations Alex!!! You are a great representative of both Team USA and Braemar City of Lakes FSC!!!

    Alex Johnson Skates in

    Champions on Ice



    Alex Johnson skated in Champions on Ice at the Target Center in Minneapolis on May 12, 2007. This is quite an honor since all of the skaters have National, World, and Olympic titles.

    Alex was announced as Minnesota's up and coming skating star. He skated to Mambo # 5 (choreographed by Rohene Ward) in front of a very enthusiastic crowd. Alex looked like a champion on ice and continues to represent Braemar in fine fashion.

    6th Zagreb Snowflakes Trophy 2007


    Congratulations to the Junior Sychronized Team who represented the Braemar City of Lakes FSC at the 6th Zagreb Snowflakes Trophy 2007 in Zagreb, Croatia, March 16-17, 2007.

    The Junior Team had strong performance placing 1st in the short program, 1st in the freeskate, and first overall (138.13).

  • Team Braemar 1st (SP 1st, FS 1st) IJS

  • Team Braemar competed as Team USA, representing the United States of America and U.S. Figure Skating. They placed first in both the short program and the freeskate, winning the overall crown and capturing their first international gold medal.

    Western Michigan University of Kalamazoo, Michigan, earned the bronze medal in the Senior Division at the Zagreb competition. Teams from Austria, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Russia, and Sweden also competed in this sixth-annual international synchronized skating competition for Novice, Junior, and Senior teams.

    Team Braemar's Junior Team earned their international assignment by medaling at the 2006 U.S. Synchronized Team Skating Championships. This year the Junior Team finished in third place with a bronze-medal performance at the 2007 U.S. Synchronized Team Skating Championships held February 23-24, 2007, at the World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As a result, they have been placed in the U.S. Figure Skating envelope system to receive another international assignment for the 2008 competitive season.

    Congratulations to the Junior and Novice Team Braemar Sychronized Teams who represented the Braemar City of Lakes FSC at the 2007 U.S. Synchronized Team Skating Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

    The Junior Team had the highest technical marks in the division, 2nd in the freeskate, and third overall (148.55), just over two points out of 1st. We expect great things from the Junior Team next month at the Zagreb Snowflakes Trophy in Zagreb, Croatia.

    2007 State Farm U.S National Figure Skating Championships


    Congratulations to Alexander Johnson who represented the Braemar City of Lakes FSC at the 2007 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Spokane, Wash.

    Alex had the highest program component marks in both the short and long program. We expect great things from Alex in the future and are very proud of his successes.

    2007 State Farm Scholastic Honors Team



    Congratulations to Jennifer Barnes who was named as one of 10 members of the 2007 State Farm/U.S. Figure Skating Scholastic Honors Team during an on-ice ceremony at the 2007 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Spokane, Wash.

    The program was created by U.S. Figure Skating to recognize high school athletes who excel in the classroom and on the ice.
